The Dining Services team at Givens Estates, a nationally recognized nonprofit life plan community (continuing care retirement community), is hiring a full-time and salaried Health Services Dining Manager. The primary purpose of your position is to provide leadership, supervision, technical guidance, and support to the Dining Health Services team while ensuring safe food handling techniques are being practiced. You will assist in planning and directing all activities for the front-line Dining Health Services team members. The Certified Dietary Manager will have a unique opportunity to channel their knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents and team members. The CDM reports to the Assistant Dining Director, Health Services. 

What you'll do:

  • Oversee and complete employee work schedules while adhering to the labor budget
  • Ensure sufficient staffing levels are complied with and adjust levels based on census
  • Assists production personnel by routine communication of resident/guest concerns, comments, suggestions, and food portions
  • Responsible for, along with Dining Services Assistant Director, communicating resident concerns to the Consulting Dietitian as well as adhering to diet orders and resident food preferences
  • Maintain close relationships and communication with Health Services Social Workers, Nursing Directors and Leadership, and front-line team members with regard to resident needs and expectations
  • Oversee the procurement process of food for Health Services Dining Services and works with relevant team members to manage and meet inventory compliance
  • Respond and answer resident concerns, requests, and questions
  • Participate in the interviewing process of applicants; accountable for the training of new team members; assist in the follow-up of employees within 90 days of employment and complete introductory and annual evaluations
  • Ensure completion of all applicable HRIS tasks assigned to yourself or your team
  • Create a safe work environment by ensuring department sanitation and food safety requirements are followed according to Health Department and all other legal regulations and maintain a Health Department Grade of 95% or higher
  • Completes MDS assessments in conjunction with Dining Services Assistant Director
  • Ensure all care plans are implemented
  • Maintains current documentation on all residents of Health Services in accordance with state and federal guidelines and ensures all dietary
  • Uses and keeps current company electronic systems for patient dietary information.
  • Participates in Federal, State, and local inspections and conducts daily/weekly team briefings
  • Makes recommendations in areas that may improve the level of service provided and maintain a polite and courteous disposition with residents and team members
  • Provides direction and leadership to all team leaders and front-line personnel to include any necessary team member counseling/coaching opportunities
  • Instructs employees in the use, care, and maintenance of equipment; maintains safety standards & practice

What you'll need:

  • Certified Dietary Manager Certification required or achieved within the first 12 months of employment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum two years of foodservice supervision experience, including experience within a health care facility
  • Knowledge of healthy trends in foods and diets and familiarity with dietary requirements and restrictions for older adults
  • Creativity and innovation in menu planning
  • Knowledge of budget management, purchasing, and payroll control
  • Certified in ServSafe & Sanitation
  • Passion for team member empowerment and positive engagement skills
  • Be a change agent and comfortable with visionary change management
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy
  • Superior communication (both oral and written)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt with minimal supervision
  • Proficient knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation: $55,000-60,000 annually based on your experience and skillset and includes our comprehensive benefits package!
