Givens Communities, a nationally recognized nonprofit senior housing organization in WNC, is looking to hire a full-time, Corporate Clinical Educator. This position will be based primarily at our Black Mountain campus, Givens Highland Farms, but will also spend time at our Asheville campus, Givens Estates. Reporting to the Training and Development Director, the primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and lead an on-site state approved CNA training program. The Corporate Clinical Educator will oversee all aspects of clinical education for CNA trainees and provide ongoing clinical education and training to team members in clinical and non-clinical settings when needed. 

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the Health Services Directors, Directors of Nursing, and the Training and Development Director to meet the needs of clinical education
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an onsite state approved CNA training program
    • Serve as the program coordinator and become a subject matter expert in all components and DHHS requirements to ensure compliance
    • Develop and maintain up to date instructional materials for CNA training program utilizing state approved training as the foundation
    • Facilitate and instruct CNA training students and ensure the highest probability of success for each student possible
    • Assist CNAs upon completion of the training program with help in scheduling their certification exam
    • Ensure the CNA training lab is well kept and stocked with needed training supplies
    • Develop and implement CNA training policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
    • Verify CNA certification is listed on the CNA registry and communicate to the DONs when a new CNA is ready to work
  • Collaborate with DONs to understand how many CNA trainees are needed for each area and take the lead/participate in the hiring process as determined
  • Work with the Training and Development Director to ensure maintenance of training records and documentation required by federal, state, and local regulations
  • Develop, coordinate, and present clinical education programs for all team members working in clinical areas to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Work with Human Resources and Nursing to ensure consistent orientation and onboarding across all communities
  • Conduct skills competency checks for new clinical team members within the first 30 days of employment
  • Coordinate with DONs to develop and participate in annual nursing skills days for all campuses
  • Offer the annual state Infection Control Course for adult care homes, and provide CPR and feeding assistant classes as needed
  • Participate in facility surveys as needed
  • Become Subject Matter Expert for EduCare, our Learning Management System
    • Maintain clinical education records and assignments in EduCare
    • Assist with content development for EduCare modules and review annually
  • Work alongside team members to ensure consistent protocols
  • Make recommendations to the Training and Development Director regarding budgetary needs
  • Provide individualized training for CNAs requiring performance and/or skill improvement
  • Meet with Department Directors on an annual basis to evaluate training needs and opportunities for in-person or electronic training to be developed
  • Develop a Givens Communities clinical course catalog of training materials and programs with the support and direction of the Training and Development Director
  • Act as a liaison with community colleges, local skilled nursing facilities; universities, and other programs for clinical opportunities, internships, and other student opportunities

What you’ll need:

  • Current unencumbered RN license in the state of North Carolina
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience, at least 1 year in a long-term care facility. Prefer 3-5 years in geriatric setting
  • Must have completed or be willing to complete a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides
  • Proficient knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy
  • Superior communication (both oral and written)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt with minimal supervision
