DESCRIPTION: This is a full time benefited position that will provide wellness programs that are state-of-the-art based on the most current research and national trends to older adults. This position supports the emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, environmental and vocational dimensions of resident wellness and works to improve the quality of life of residents. This position instructs land and aquatics based fitness programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The preferred candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/Physiology, Recreational Therapy or related field, with emphasis in gerontology, health promotion, and /or exercise physiology. Experience in designing and implementing individual and group exercise and/or aquatics programs, and leading group exercise classes is essential. Prior experience implementing multi-dimensional programs for seniors preferred. Certifications to complement this position might include: CPR and First Aid; AEA Aquatics Instructor; ACSM certification; or ACE/AFAA Group Fitness or Personal Trainer Instructor or equivalent; Lifeguard Certification thru Red Cross or YMCA. The hours for this position will require flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend coverage for services provided.
