Application Process

We've created a process to make your application and onboarding experience as easy and efficient as possible.

Our goal is to move the applicant process along, though some positions take longer to hire than others. Please be patient with us as we work through the process.  If you see multiple positions of interest, please apply to each one.

  • Once you have completed your online application for the job you feel is the best fit, you will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received.
  • The hiring manager over that position will review your qualifications.  If your qualifications appear to be a match, the hiring manager will reach out to you to discuss the position further and schedule an interview.
    • The interview may be conducted by phone, video, or through an in-person meeting.
    • Depending on the position, you may be asked to complete an assessment at some point during the interview process.
    • Have your professional references ready in case we ask for them.
  • Upon offer, successful candidates will be required to consent to a pre-employment substance screening (mouth swab), criminal background check and are required to provide payroll direct deposit information as a condition of employment.

We are always accepting applications for positions in dining services (waitstaff, dishwashers, culinary staff), environmental services (housekeeping, floor care, laundry), and nursing (CNAs, LPNs, RNs).  However, there are times when we are fully staffed in these departments and are not actively interviewing. Applications will be held for a short time in case the need arises to hire for a position.

Opportunities with us are equitable and accessible for all.

Givens Communities recognizes the importance and value of being a diverse organization. We strive to cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment to give our team members a sense of belonging, appreciation, and empowerment to bring their authentic selves to work, which leads to high-quality service and care for our residents.

In 2014, the Givens Communities Board of Directors elected to adopt an ongoing organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategic plan. From this, we have created an Inclusion Committee that meets several times a year and leads our efforts in ensuring that our communities are equitable for our residents and team members. In addition to the Inclusion Committee, we create dedicated Task Forces that work on a specific inclusion area of focus at a time.

We are proud partners with the following organizations that support non-majority populations:

  • Gold level sponsor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County - a local association made up of individuals and organizations interested in preserving and advancing the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by promoting goodwill and mutual respect among all peoples.
  • Emerald level sponsor of the Blue Ridge Pride Association - a local association that promotes equality, safety, and quality of life for Western North Carolina’s LGBTQ+ and allied communities.
  • Platinum SAGECare Certification - an LGBTQ+ Elder Advocacy group with annual training for all team members as part of the certificate.
  • Long-Term Care Equality Index (LEI) Pioneer Participant - a joint project of SAGE and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation focusing on LGBTQ+ inclusion topics and provides us with continued recommendations for enhancing our work environment.
  • Annual sponsor and frequent partner of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County - a local organization that supports a robust network of people, partners, and resources to co-create opportunities for every person in our community to live free from poverty and injustice.
  • Our Leadership team recently completed 12 hours of cultural inclusion training in partnership with a local consultant and additional training at all levels of the organization.
  • More to come as we maintain and further our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts!

We are committed to continuing the conversation and embracing all dimensions of diversity and inclusion. This includes race, age, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status, and other facets of life that make our communities a great place to work.
